I think what’s happened is that sensors and computing power and connectivity have gotten to a point. where it’s cheap enough and small enough that you can put it into lots of different things.

For example, Ramen’s company Jawbone makes a bracelet they call them up. It syncs to an app to track your health from how well you’re sleeping.
